Le gouvernement pense gagner l’Allemagne à sa cause protectionniste. Mais que pense l’Allemagne ?
Voici ce que dit Politico Berlin Bulletin de vendredi dernier :
a growing number of German industry leaders are howling over what they’re calling the “China shock.” Germany was long one of the few EU countries to run surpluses with Beijing, but since the Covid pandemic, the trade relationship has flipped to a big deficit — €90 billion in 2025. China is widely blamed for much of the hemorrhaging of jobs in Germany’s manufacturing sector, now running at roughly 10,000 job losses per month.
() The German side blames Beijing’s industrial policies — including subsidies, deliberate dumping and an undervalued currency — that give Chinese companies unfair price advantages.
() But Merz is reluctant to react too strongly and support EU defensive tariffs for the simple reason that Germany imports from China many of the critical raw materials its economy needs, giving Beijing the power to shut down German plants almost at will even as Berlin tries to pursue a longer term policy of reducing such dependencies. Merz is also reluctant to take on China while dealing with U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war.
« Tu te racontes des histoires et tu les crois » auraient dit mes camarades de cours élémentaire à nos gouvernants ?
